Who Can Take HemoHIM? Pregnancy, Breastfeeding, Children and Older Adults

Written by Poblo Peraltas, Independent Atomy distributor

Is HemoHIM safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for children, teenagers or older adults? What the official labels say, what is known about its herbs, and when to talk to a doctor first.

Short answer: HemoHIM is intended for adults. The official Korean product information says children, pregnant women and breastfeeding women should avoid it, and Colombia’s regulator does not recommend it for people under 18. Older adults can be a different story — but anyone who takes medicines or has a health condition should check with their doctor first.

What the official labels say

  • South Korea (Food Safety Korea record): children, pregnant women and breastfeeding women should avoid HemoHIM. People with irregular menstruation or a bleeding disorder, and people taking anticoagulants, should consult a professional first.
  • New Zealand (Atomy NZ): if you are pregnant, nursing, taking any medications or have any medical condition, consult your doctor before use.
  • Colombia (INVIMA review record): one 20 ml sachet twice a day for adults; not recommended during pregnancy, breastfeeding or for people under 18.

Labels differ by country, so always read the one on the product sold where you live.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

There are no studies of HemoHIM in pregnant or breastfeeding women. For one of its ingredients, peony root, the European Medicines Agency’s herbal committee concluded that use in pregnancy should be contraindicated because reproductive safety data are not available. For Angelica gigas, the main herb in HemoHIM, there are no pregnancy data at all. (Warnings about dong quai, Angelica sinensis, concern a different species.)

Because of these gaps, and because the label says to avoid it, we recommend not taking HemoHIM while pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding unless your doctor specifically advises otherwise.

Children and teenagers

HemoHIM has not been studied in children or teenagers, and the Korean label says children should avoid it. HemoHIM also contains honey: health authorities such as the US CDC and the UK NHS say honey must never be given to babies under one year old, because of the risk of infant botulism.

Marketing that suggests HemoHIM for school children or students is not safety evidence. If you are thinking about any supplement for a child or teenager, talk to their doctor first.

Older adults

HemoHIM is not age-restricted for adults, but the human trials only included adults up to 59 years of age, and they excluded people with diseases or regular medication. So there is little direct data for older people — the group most likely to take several medicines at once. More precisely, the 30–59 age range is documented for the 2025 safety trial; the other trials were also small studies in adults without serious illness.

  • Review all your medicines and supplements with your doctor or pharmacist before starting, especially blood thinners, diabetes medicines and immunosuppressants.
  • Count its sugar if you need to: about 5 g of carbohydrate per sachet on the US label — see HemoHIM and diabetes.
  • Stop and see a doctor if you notice dark urine, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or other unusual symptoms.

Other people who should ask a doctor first

  • People with liver disease, an autoimmune disease or an organ transplant.
  • People allergic to any of the herbs or to honey.
  • People who are scheduled for surgery.
