HemoHIM and Diabetes: Can Diabetics Take It, and Does It Affect Blood Sugar?
Can you take HemoHIM if you have diabetes? What the only diabetes study (in mice) found, how much sugar is in each sachet, and what to discuss with your doctor first.
Short answer: there are no studies of HemoHIM in people with diabetes, so nobody can say it helps blood sugar in humans. Each sachet also contains a small amount of sugar. Many people with diabetes may still be able to take it, but only after checking with their doctor — and never as a replacement for diabetes medication.

What the research on HemoHIM and blood sugar shows
The only study we found that tested HemoHIM itself in diabetes was done in mice. In a 2014 study, mice with chemically induced diabetes received HemoHIM by mouth every day for four weeks. Compared with untreated diabetic mice, their fasting blood glucose was about 26% lower, their glucose tolerance was better and their insulin levels were higher. HemoHIM did not change blood glucose in healthy mice.
Some laboratory and animal studies also report glucose effects for compounds from the individual herbs — for example an Angelica gigas extract and its compound decursin in mice, and paeoniflorin from peony in rats. All of this evidence comes from animals.
Animal results often do not carry over to people. A 2025 randomized, placebo-controlled trial in 96 healthy adults focused on safety and reported no serious problems, but it did not study people with diabetes. So the honest summary is: HemoHIM has not been shown to lower blood sugar in humans.
How much sugar is in HemoHIM?
HemoHIM is not sugar-free. According to the official Atomy US label, one 20 ml sachet contains 20 kcal, 5 g of carbohydrates and 2.5 g of total sugars, of which 2 g are added sugars. The ingredients include honey, corn syrup and fructo-oligosaccharide.
At the labelled amount of two sachets a day, that is about 40 kcal and 10 g of carbohydrates per day. For most meal plans this is a small amount, but it should be counted. Recipes can differ by country, so check the label of the product sold where you live.
Can you take HemoHIM with diabetes medication?
We found no studies on HemoHIM combined with metformin, insulin or other diabetes medicines, and no reports of low blood sugar caused by HemoHIM. That does not prove it is safe to combine — it means it has not been studied. Some official labels advise people who take medication to consult their doctor first.
The US National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) advises that dietary supplements should not replace proven diabetes treatment and that people should tell their health care providers about any supplements they use.
Practical checklist before you start
- Talk to your doctor or diabetes nurse first, especially if you use insulin or medicines that can cause low blood sugar.
- Count the carbohydrates: about 5 g per sachet according to the US label.
- Check your blood glucose as usual during the first weeks and tell your doctor about any unusual readings.
- Never stop or reduce your diabetes medication because you started a supplement.
- Buy only genuine HemoHIM from Atomy’s official mall, so the label information applies — see how to avoid fake HemoHIM.
