HemoHIM and Allergies: Does It Help, and Can You Be Allergic to It?
Is HemoHIM good for allergies? No human study shows it treats them. What lab and animal research looked at, which ingredients could cause a reaction, and when to ask a doctor.
Short answer: there is no human evidence that HemoHIM treats or prevents allergies. Laboratory and animal studies looked at allergy-related immune markers, but no study has tested it in people with allergies. Whether you can take it if you have allergies depends mainly on its ingredients. This site is run by an independent Atomy distributor.
Allergies: an overreaction, not a weak immune system
In an allergy, the immune system overreacts to harmless substances such as pollen or certain foods. IgE antibodies trigger histamine release, causing sneezing, itching, hives or swelling, and sometimes anaphylaxis. Because the response is misdirected rather than weak, a product said to “support immune function” is not automatically helpful.
What the research on HemoHIM covers
- Human studies: small trials, partly by the developer KAERI, reported changes in immune markers such as NK-cell activity. None studied allergies. See HemoHIM clinical studies.
- Animal and laboratory studies only: in mice and cells, HemoHIM and its extracts shifted the Th1/Th2 balance away from the Th2 response linked to allergies, and some reported lower IgE or less histamine release.
Such results often do not carry over to humans. In South Korea its approved claims are only that it “may help improve immune function” and “may help reduce fatigue”. More in HemoHIM and the immune system.
Can you be allergic to HemoHIM?
Any plant-based product can cause a reaction. HemoHIM contains three root extracts plus honey and corn syrup (see HemoHIM ingredients):
- Angelica gigas and Cnidium officinale are in the Apiaceae (carrot) family, like celery, carrot, fennel and parsley. If you are allergic to these, be careful.
- Peony root (Paeonia lactiflora): avoid it if you have reacted to peony.
- Honey: avoid it if you are allergic to honey or bee products.
- Other ingredients: the label also lists ingredients such as guar gum and fructo-oligosaccharide, so check your country’s label if you have a food allergy or intolerance.
Signs of an allergic reaction
Itching, hives, swelling of the lips or face, or vomiting: stop taking it and see a doctor or pharmacist. Trouble breathing, throat tightness or fainting can mean anaphylaxis — call emergency services.
Yellowing of the skin or eyes or dark urine also needs prompt attention. In 2021 Hong Kong and Taiwan warned against HemoHIM after four liver-injury cases in Hong Kong and methoxsalen, an undeclared prescription drug, found in samples; whether HemoHIM caused the cases is debated. As of October 2026, HemoHIM is sold again in Atomy’s Singapore mall and, as HemoHIM G (艾多美 煥力飲G), in Atomy’s Taiwan mall; it is still not sold in Hong Kong. See HemoHIM side effects and safety.
Important notes
- HemoHIM does not replace allergy medication. Keep your prescribed treatment and adrenaline auto-injector.
- Autoimmune disease or immunosuppressants: ask your doctor first.
- Children, pregnant and breastfeeding women should not take it; people on blood thinners should consult a professional.
Bottom line
HemoHIM is not an allergy treatment. If you are allergic to celery, carrot, fennel or related plants, to peony or to honey, be careful or avoid it. For an overview, read what is HemoHIM.
❓ Is HemoHIM good for allergies?
There is no human evidence that it is. Laboratory and animal studies reported effects on Th1/Th2 balance and IgE, but no clinical study has tested it in people with allergies.
❓ Does HemoHIM help with hay fever?
This has not been studied in people. Keep using the treatment your doctor recommends.
