What is Atomy HemoHIM?
HemoHIM (also written Hemo HIM) is a liquid herbal extract sold by the Korean company Atomy. The formula — called HIM-I — combines Angelica gigas, Cnidium officinale and Paeonia lactiflora, three plants used in traditional Korean herbal practice.
It was developed over several years by the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute and Kolmar BNH. People mainly take it to support normal immune function and to reduce tiredness — the two functions it is recognised for in South Korea.
What does the research actually show?
Most published studies on HemoHIM are laboratory and animal studies, plus a small number of human trials. Animal studies report effects on immune cells and on fatigue and oxidative-stress markers. Human studies mainly looked at safety and immune markers in small groups.
In plain words: small human trials found it was well tolerated over about 8 weeks and studied immune markers and fatigue. It does not prove that HemoHIM prevents, treats or cures any disease — be careful with any website that claims otherwise.

In an 8-week trial in 96 healthy adults, no clinically significant adverse events were found, but how often side effects occur in everyday use is not known. Children and pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take it. Talk to your doctor first if you:
- have planned surgery or take several supplements
- take prescription medicines, especially blood thinners or immunosuppressants
- have an autoimmune disease, liver disease or an organ transplant
- are allergic to any of the three herbs
Good to know: in November 2021 Hong Kong's Department of Health asked the public not to buy or consume HemoHIM after methoxsalen, an undeclared prescription drug, was found in a sample, and the product was withdrawn in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore. How to take HemoHIM
The usual amount is one sachet twice a day, for example in the morning and in the evening. You can drink it straight or mixed with water. Many people take it on an empty stomach, but before or after a meal is fine too — consistency matters more than timing.
